Thank you for your interest in Foyer du Monde! This form allows you to become a member or renew your status annually. Being a member means being affiliated with the non-profit organization and participating in its democratic life. Membership does not commit you to anything but allows you to actively take part in decision-making during assemblies. If you wish, you can also apply for a position on the Board of Directors (CA). Being a CA member requires a volunteer commitment of at least six meetings per year. CA members are elected by the membership at annual general meetings or appointed by the CA to replace an outgoing member.

Which membership category would you like to apply for?

"Resident and Former Resident" Members

To become a “resident or former resident” member of the Corporation, any individual must, in addition to meeting the general eligibility criteria:

a) be recognized as a "resident or former resident" by the Board of Directors, in accordance with the recognition policy adopted by it;
b) reside within the Corporation's area of operation;
c) be 18 years of age or older.

"Volunteer" Members

To become a "volunteer" member of the Corporation, any individual must, in addition to meeting the general eligibility criteria:

a) be recognized as a volunteer by the Board of Directors, in accordance with the recognition policy adopted by it;
b) reside within the Corporation's area of operation;
c) be 18 years of age or older.

"Supportive" Members

To become a "supportive" member of the Corporation, any individual or legal entity (except political parties, political organizations, and all government bodies at the federal, provincial, or municipal levels) must meet the general eligibility criteria and reside in Canada.A legal entity must submit a resolution from its board of directors (or an appropriate body) specifying its agreement to apply for membership in the Corporation.

Rights

Members "residents, former residents, volunteers, and supporters" have the following rights:

a) to be summoned to general assemblies;
b) to participate and speak at assemblies;
c) to participate in committees (except committees composed solely of board members);
d) to receive any information deemed relevant by the board of directors or general management;
e) to appeal a notice of suspension or expulsion by decision of the board of directors and, if applicable, to be heard during a meeting with the board;
f) to vote at general assemblies and run for election to the board of directors (except for "supporter" members).

Membership Procedure

Complete a membership or renewal application via the form.

The board of directors reviews applications continuously and will follow up once your application has been processed.

For a membership or renewal request to be considered, it must be submitted at least 30 days before a general meeting.
